Germany has much to offer. With television from http://www.satellitetv.net, you can see many shows about traveling to Germany and it’s history. If you’re planning a trip there, here are some things to consider.

From historical cities to beautiful countryside, there is enough around which to plan several holidays.

A passport is required to enter the country. The currency is the euro and the country is filled with ATMs from which withdrawal is simple. Additionally, many businesses accept the standard credit cards so it is necessary to only carry a small amount of cash. The vast majority of people, especially in the larger cities, will speak at least some English. Some rudimentary German, however, is helpful outside the cities.

When to go to Germany is as important as where to go. Germany is beautiful in the summer, but that is also its busiest tourist season. Winters can be harsh and cold, but the cities will provide plenty of places to warm up and escape the elements. Spring and fall are beautiful, especially in the mountains.

Germany’s most popular destinations include the big cities. Berlin offers everything one would expect from a large city, including many historical sites. Munich, on a smaller scale, is famous for its annual Oktoberfest. Off the beaten track, the Neuschwanstein Castle is every child’s vision of a fairyland palace. The Black Forest provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities and a boat trip down the Rhine or the Danube can be a holiday in itself.

The hotels vary from top of the line luxury to backpacker hostels. Germany has a well deserved reputation for cleanliness and service, but some of the smaller, more rural hotels in the former east Germany may not live up to these standards.

Similarly, restaurants range from formal and expensive to street food, served in a paper wrapper. German food is good and it is filling, consisting mostly of meat and potatoes. German wine is now drunk the world over, but Germany is still most famous for its beer. Every city and every part of the country brews its own form of the malt, many of which are outstanding.

Germany has something for everyone. Some advance planning will ensure a fun and informative holiday.

For fun things to do, it’s hard to find a better place than Germany.

Munich, of course, is famous for Oktoberfest, where you can enjoy beer and giant pretzels. Oktoberfest is usually held near the end of September. You can find dates and faqs at www.oktoberfest.de, and also book your hotel.

If you like heavy metal, Germany has some great bands. Rammstein is generally considered the most popular. Others are Kreator, Scorpions, and Helloween. You can check their websites for tickets and tour dates.

Germany is home to great classical music, and you can attend the Bayreuth Festival, which features Richard Wagner’s operas. You can get tickets and information at www.wagneropera.net.

Sports fans can go to soccer games in most of the major cities, and many cities, like Berlin and Munich, have basketball teams. If you miss the NFL, Berlin, Munich and several other cities also have American football teams.

No trip to Germany is complete without visiting a castle, especially if it’s haunted. The Frankenstein Castle (yes, there really is one) near Darmstadt welcomes visitors and serves dinner. It also has a ghost, a mad alchemist who sits on the chapel roof.

Don’t be scared; he’s friendly!

There is much to do in Germany in the day, but the nightlife is spectacular. There are dozens of theaters, bars and clubs to amaze and excite visitors. One of the best places in Germany for nightlife is Berlin.

Weineri

Weineri is one of them most eclectic bars in Berlin. First the guest pays one euro for a glass. Then they can fill it as much as they desire from a table filled with bottles. They also serve Organic dishes buffet style.

Watergate

Watergate is a brilliant club located in Kreuzberg overlooking the the Spree River. The decor features a water floor dance floor which makes club goers feel like they are dancing on water. Internationally known DJ’s provide the music. There is also a deck for warm nights.

White Trash

White trash is a mixture of bar, restaurant and club. Upstairs one can get a great burger or smoke, downstairs is the club which features a wide variety of live music. The best part is that patrons get in free before 8 PM.

Berlin is just one location in Germany that has amazing nightlife. It’s apparent that the entire country has much to offer for night time entertainment.

Tourists visiting Germany should take the time to visit some of Germany’s historic buildings. Here are four suggestions.

Hofbraühaus

Located in Munich, this historic brewery is a must-see destination. The brewery is famous for its beer, which once saved the city from destruction during the Thirty Years’ War. The brewery was built in 1589 and still stands in its original spot.

Neuschwanstein

This whimsical palace, which began construction in 1868 and was never completely finished, is an icon of Germany. It was built by King Ludwig II in Hohenschwangau as his own personal retreat, and is decorated throughout to emphasize the king’s love of Richard Wagner’s operas.

Nymphenburg Palace

Nymphenburg Palace, in Munich, was the summer residence of the old rulers of Bavaria. This enormous palace is over 700 meters wide. Visitors can see the ceiling frescoes of the Steinerner Saal, the impressive porcelain collection, or the palace’s museum of historic royal carriages.

Cologne Cathedral

The Cologne Cathedral, located in Cologne, is a World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive cathedrals in the world. The Cathedral began construction in the 1200s, but wasn’t completed for more than 600 years in 1880. The building is an architectural wonder and is the largest Gothic-style cathedral in northern Europe.

Germany is a very fun and loving, progressive country. No matter your background or interests you will surely enjoy Germany. One of the benefits of visiting Germany, is their is rarely a language barrier. This is because almost all Germans, especially the younger generation, know some basic English. Some even know it fluently. of course it goes a long way to say at least the basic phrases in German.

Germans love to travel, and love to welcome visitors to their country. You will find very friendly people no matter where you are, whether it be at a pub or in the park. Speaking of parks, many cities have beautifully designed parks in the middle of their cities. It is a great site to take in, especially in the summer months. With many couples trolling through the park and many people riding their bikes.

Getting around German cities is generally very easy, they are known for being on time, rarely is a train or subway late. For shorter distances, the major cities are very walk-able, and usually have separate bike and pedestrian paths. If you like small cities, large cities, villages, or outdoor act ivies, you will be guaranteed to love Germany and its people.

For centuries Germany has been the home of some of the world’s greatest minds. From artists to scientists, the country has served as a cultural hub for the world. Maybe it’s the beautiful cities and landscapes that inspire great minds or perhaps it’s a deeper desire to achieve greatness that is instilled by the culture itself.

In the case of Beethoven, it could easily be said that the support he got from his upper-class patrons are directly responsible for his notoriety. The commissions and stipends he received from wealthy patrons allowed Beethoven to pursue and perfect his craft. It is this sort of appreciation for the arts that has made Germany such a prolific producer of artistic content.

This appreciation can be seen in the works of Goethe during the Weimar Classicism. In his attempt to synthesis and combine elements of classical, Romantic, and Enlightenment, Goethe produced Faust. To this day it is considered by many to be the greatest piece of German literature ever written.

Much like those who strive and live on in Faust, Einstein overcame the misfortunes of his family’s fail electrical business to become one of the world’s foremost scientific minds. Making him one of only many Germans who have directly changed the world for the better.

The song of Roland is what many look back to as the first documented description of valor.

The decisions of Roland not to call for reinforcements when betrayed and ambushed, thereby depleting the enemies armies and aiding in Charlemagne’s ultimate victory, showed bravery self sacrifice.
From these early beginnings the positive virtues attributed to the noble class became associated with knights. Though the Armor was still developing the chivalry was there.

The literal meaning of Chivalry encompasses soldier

The earliest meaning of chivalry meant “ knight.” The words are virtually interchangeable. In German the translation is to “ritter” actually meaning rider. The literal words do paint the initial picture, though chivalry has come to encompass so much more. The virtues that are included in this definition are an almost mythical combination bravery, generosity, nobility, and romanticism. They take on the very virtues of Jesus himself. This lends itself to the almost monastic zealotry in which knights lived their code.

More specific to Germany the origins of Early Knighthood with Galoain an Oringles defining knights as protectors of women. These values later developed in Gregorian chivalry.
Germany has many tales cavalry battles that are epic and inspiring. Take a journey into a chivalrous past.
